Angela Charles, Dental Hygienist

Angela brings nearly four decades of dental experience to Dr. Setzer’s office, and joined our caring team in 2006. She loves working with a dedicated staff who always work as a team to help patients get the smile they deserve. Angela has studied at a number of area schools to advance her dental skills over the years including Mitchell College, Central Piedmont Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, and Forsyth Technical Community College. She earned her dental assisting diploma, dental hygiene degree, medical transcription diploma, as well as ongoing certification in CPR and various continuing education courses.

A native of Statesville, NC, Angela is happily married to Bill Charles, and the couple has one daughter Kathryn who lives in New York City. When she has spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling. During her travels, Angela had the opportunity to ride in a helicopter over part of the Grand Canyons’ South Rim.

Nikki Carreau, Dental Assistant

Nikki joined our team and the field of dentistry in 2005, and she loves getting to help her patients and our team anyway she can. Nikki completed her dental assistant training with our team, and has greatly enjoyed the opportunity to be an ever more important part of our patients’ lifetimes of healthy smiles. Nikki completed a course in radiology, and helps our patients with ongoing treatment planning and preventive care by capturing and developing x-rays.

Originally from Wallburg, NC, Nikki enjoys spending time with her family, camping, boating, horseback riding, gardening, and drawing. In fact, Nikki is well known for drawing dental cartoons on the weekly supply lists.

Cindy Hardin, Dental Assistant

Cindy entered the field of dentistry and joined Dr. Setzer’s team in 1993. Since that time, she has offered our patients outstanding care making them comfortable from the moment arrive until they leave with a beautiful smile. She greatly enjoys the hard working, friendly environment in the office and having the opportunity to work with a team dedicated to caring for patients. Cindy trained on the job with our team and maintains radiology certification.

Originally from Wallburg, NC, Cindy is proud of her close-knit fun and funny family and enjoys spending all of her down time with them. Cindy especially enjoys camping, swimming, and spending time playing with her grandchildren.

Ashley Cheek, Registered Dental Hygienist

Ashley has worked as a dental hygienist since 2007 and greatly enjoys taking time to get to know each of her patients. Ashley joined our team in 2010 and is dedicated to helping patients achieve their smile goals. She studied dental hygiene at Guilford Technical Community College, and Ashley maintains certification in IV sedation monitoring, nitrous oxide sedation, and is our practice’s certified SPICE (Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology) representative.

Outside the office, Ashley is happily married with one daughter, and she and her husband are proud to welcome their second child in November of 2016. Besides working hard with Dr. Setzer and his team, Ashley spends the majority of her down time with her daughter.

Susan Alexander, Office Assistant

Susan joined our team in 2000, and loves seeing the loyal patients she has worked hard to build relationships with over the years. Susan studied at Southern Methodist University, and is passionate about helping our patients and team members however she can.

Originally from Winter Haven, FL, Susan is a widow who is proud of her four sons, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren who she loves to spend time with. Susan is also an animal lover and enjoys reading.

Kristi Dorton, Registered Dental Hygienist

Kristi has been with Dr. Setzer’s practice since the beginning of her career in 2002. Her favorite part of working as a dental hygienist is getting to know her patients and their families, and she is proud to say she’s been able to care for four generations of families in many cases. Kristi earned her associates degree in dental hygiene from Guilford Technical Community College, and is certified in CPR. She also completes numerous continuing education hours annually.

Outside the office, Kristi is happily married with a son, Peyton, and daughter, Paisley. In her spare time, Kristi enjoys being with her family and friends, especially taking family trips to the beach, and she is an avid reader.

Sharon Conrad, Office Assistant

Hardworking and friendly, Sharon has served as the office assistant for both Drs. Boyles and Setzer since 2009. She earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Forsyth Technical College, and Sharon puts it to good use helping our patients get the care they need by keeping the office running smoothly every day.

Outside of work, Sharon is happily married, and she and her husband are the proud parents of two daughters and grandparents of two grandchildren. When she’s not working, spending time with her family, or participating in church activities, Sharon enjoys quilting, sewing, and crafting.
